Comments: I too think Hale Bob is my favourite on the new album. Although after reading Dean's discriptive of Hale Bop, I was a little surprised at its meaning. I confess I had a different interpretation of the song! I still really like this jazzy song though, Well done Dean.

Comments: Interesting treatment of the subject matter. There aren't a lot of songwriters who have the guts to approach the headlines with any kind of artfulness. Kinda reminds me of that little ditty you did about that Berkowitz guy (one of my all-time faves of yours, by the way -- the arrangement on that piece is stunning). REALLY glad to see you're still around. Very impressive site, too.

Comments: I know it's obscure, but this is one of my favorites on the album. In case it's not obvious (which it isn't)as the liner notes explain, this song is all about the mass suicide by the California cult known as Heaven's Gate, led by Bo and Peep who believed they were shedding this mortal coil to rendezvous with a spaceship hiding behind the Hale Bop comet. They all wore new Nike sneakers (Brit trans.= trainers)and carried a five dollar bill in their pocket just in case they needed money to buy some celestial MilkyWay bar. Most of the lyrics make reference to details from the story. I really dig the background vocal "shebops."
